‘Queering Australian Screens’ explores how television professionals negotiate the development of LGBTIQ+ stories in Australian scripted television.
Damien’s PhD is currently under examination. He interviews television writers, producers and executives about their work to develop, produce and promote onscreen queer stories in scripted television. These television professionals share their experiences and observations of production culture in Australia to help shed light on what it takes to get LGBTIQ+ stories on our screens.
‘Queering Australian Screens’ analyses industry interview along with political-economic analysis and textual analysis of the final products to understand the industrial and socio-cultural influences on queer representations in Australian scripted television.
